Zoning Board Minutes

January 10, 1996

VOTING BOARD: Acting Chairperson Joanna Eckstrom; members Steve Blanchard and Carol Roberts.
CLERK: Diane Nilsson
AGENDA:
  • Craig & Susan Checani - clarification of decision.

Case # 12/13/95–1 CHECANI — Clarification of decision.

Craig & Susan Checani, Lot F–017, 102 West Intervale Road, in the Industrial District, requested a Special Exception under the terms of Section 8.6.1 of the Wilton Zoning Ordinance to permit construction of an addition to their antique shop which cannot satisfy the minimum lot and buffer requirements of the Industrial District because of its configuration.

Ms. Eckstrom called the meeting to order at 7:45 p.m. and explained to the Checani’s that they had a choice of allowing the present three-member board to write the needed clarification or waiting until a larger board could be assembled. The Checani's chose to go ahead.

Ms. Eckstrom and Mr. Blanchard summarized the case for Ms. Roberts and explained the factors that motivated their decision of 12/13/95. They explained that they approved an addition to the building and the addition of more parking spaces as shown on the map attached to the application. Issues considered before making the decision were: parking spaces vs. open space requirements, setbacks, buffers and distance from the State right-of-way.

MOTION: Mr. Blanchard moved to clarify the decision as follows: The intention of the decision of the Wilton Zoning Board on December 13, 1995 Re: Case # 12113/95-1 CHECANI was to allow the construction of an addition to the building and construction of additional parking spaces as indicated on the map which was attached to the application and presented to the Board at that time. The motion was seconded by Ms. Roberts and all voting members were in favor.

Ms. Eckstrom stated that the clarification wording had passed.

There was a motion to adjourn the meeting which was seconded and passed. The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
