Tuesday, March 20, 2007 — Continuation
The hearing on the application by Good News Bible Church for a special exception under the terms of section 5.3.3 of the Wilton Zoning Ordinance and for a variance to Section 8.4 of the Ordinance has been postponed to Tuesday, March 27, 2007. If granted, the requested variance and special exception would permit an expansion of the existing church on Lot F–12–1, 27 Hutchinson Road, which would result in traffic exceeding the permitted number of average daily trips for the lot.
Tuesday, March 27, 2007 — Decision
The application by Good News Bible Church for a variance to Section 8.4 of the Wilton Zoning Ordinance has been granted. The variance will permit an increase in the traffic on Hutchinson Road to and from the church on Lot F–12–1, 27 Hutchinson Road, beyond the 51 average trips per day that would be permitted by the Ordinance. It is granted subject to the following restrictions:
- A stop sign must be placed at the exit from the church driveway onto Hutchinson road, with appropriate indications to be painted on the pavement.
- A permanent or removable/seasonal speed bump must be installed on the church driveway.
- The density of the vegetative buffer between the church parking lot and the adjacent residential property must be increased by at least 25%.
- The applicant must provide a police officer to control traffic at the intersection of Hutchinson Road and NH Route 101 at peak times if, in the opinion of either the church or the Selectmen, the traffic entering or leaving the church at the intersection becomes a problem.
The Zoning Board denied the applicant’s application for a special exception under the terms of section 5.3.3 of the Zoning Ordinance to permit the church use on the lot, because the Board found that the use is a permitted use and does not require a special exception.
The selectmen, any party to the action or proceedings, or any person directly affected thereby may apply for a rehearing of this decision. A request for a rehearing must be filed in writing with the Zoning Board of Adjustment on or before Thursday, April 26, 2007, and must fully specify all grounds on which the rehearing is requested.
