Tuesday, June 10, 2014 — Decision
The application by the Thomas M. Conrad Revocable Trust for a variance to section 6.1 of the Wilton Zoning Ordinance has been denied.
If approved, the variance would have allowed a self-storage complex on Lot B–122, 15 Burton Highway (at the corner of Burton Highway and Forest Road), which would not otherwise be permitted in the General Residence and Agricultural District.
The Zoning Board denied the variance because it determined that it would be inconsistent with the spirit of the Zoning Ordinance, that the proposed use would diminish neighboring property values, that granting the variance would not do substantial justice, and that denying the variance would not result in unnecessary hardship.
The selectmen, any party to the action or proceedings, or any person directly affected thereby may apply for a rehearing of this decision. A request for a rehearing must be filed in writing with the Zoning Board of Adjustment on or before Thursday, July 10, 2014, and must fully specify all grounds on which the rehearing is requested.
