Notice
Unitarian Church First Congregational (owner) and The Wilton Center School, Inc. (applicant) have requested a special exception under section 5.3.6 of the Wilton Zoning Ordinance to permit the establishment of an elementary school in Lot C-75, The Unitarian Red House and 610 Isaac Frye Highway.
The Town of Wilton Zoning Board of Adjustment will consider this application in a public hearing on Wednesday, July 10, 1996 at 7:30 p.m. in the Wilton Town Hall Courtroom, 42 Main Street.
Decision
The request by Unitarian Church First Congregational (owner) and The Wilton Center School, Inc. (applicant) for a special exception under section 5.3.6 of the Wilton Zoning Ordinance has been denied. If it had been granted, it would have have permitted the establishment of an elementary school in Lot C-75, The Unitarian Red House and 610 Isaac Frye Highway.
The application was denied on the grounds that it did not satisfy section 4.4(f) of the Zoning Ordinance, which requires that “sewer, water, and other public facilities are adequate for the proposed use,” based on testimony about the limitations of the water supply in the Red House from the chairman of the church building committee and anecdotal supporting testimony from other members of the public.
The selectmen, any party to the action or proceedings, or any person directly affected thereby may apply for a rehearing of this decision. A request for a rehearing must be filed in writing with the Zoning Board of Adjustment on or before Friday, August 9, 1996, and must fully specify all grounds on which the rehearing is requested.
